Catfish and Friends,
Just a quick update to say that the rumors are true: Catfish ended HUP’s reign of terror this past Saturday with a score of 19 – 10.
I’ve never been more proud of my Fishes. Things started off well when I won the coin toss and wisely chose that we would be the home team. Winning the coin toss was a heartening omen, and we hopped on that train and rode it to the end.
Countless highlights: Picazio’s triple, Na-Slam-Well’s hustle and hits, Tsai’s hits and patient pitching (HUP sure tried to wear him down, but he is un-wear-downable), Butters’s 2 (TWO) double plays, Evan’s aggressive base running, Costello’s hustlings, Christopher’s catch of line drive at 3rd, Leevs’s (Clutch!) hits and sunny disposish, The Inning of Jamie (in which he made all 3 outs in 1-2-3 fashion), Yar’s batting power, Richard’s lightning lefty swings, Erin’s much-needed catch of a pop-up foul behind the plate, Matt’s pitching and hustle to home, and John Abbate the Younger’s hitting and his hustle for John Tsai. And last but definitely not least, our fabulous Fish fans who cheered us on and did all they could to throw those Huppers off their game. All Fishes played their hearts out, and all Fish fans cheered and heckled their hearts out.
Truly the last time we beat them, let alone by 9 runs, is shrouded in the ancient mists of time. Thanks to everyone for their donations to Easter Seals, their team spirit, their grit and determination, and their visualizations of us kicking HUP’s butt.
