GAME 13, Catfish 10

Dear Fish and Friends,

It was a wounding loss to GAME last night. As the scoreboard shows, things were going SO WELL until the top of the 7th, when their bats inexplicably came alive.

Still, we Fish put up a very good fight and feel no shame today. Highlights: Leviathan the Larvitar Rubeck’s blammo-ing bat and his graceful glove at 2nd; Naslamwell Trippe’s 2 (two) homeruns and his leaping snags at shortstop; Tslammy Tsai’s homerun and his stretchiness at 1st; Battery Buttery Elwell’s amazing bat and fiery plays at shortstop AND 3rd; Pickler Picazio’s hustle in the outfield; Scaldwell Elwell’s amazing bat and RBI stats; Alexa The X Factor’s strong batt and sunny dis-po-sish; Hot Stuff José’s fine hitting and aplomb in the outfield; H-Bomb Hasley’s fierce bat and her graceful catch of a pop-up fly behind the plate to make a much-needed out; Liz The Aggressor Agresta’s fierce aggressiveness at the plate in her long-awaited return from the DL; and Richie Richard’s superb batting, all while staying cool as a cuke. And we had some fabulous fans rooting for us, including Matt The Clowne Browne and Robley the Man Cub.

An extremely low moment was Hellkat Helke’s being placed on the DL, after she batted and fielded her heart out for the first couple innings! We hope she returns to us soon.

No game next week; please enjoy these photo-snaps, and we hope you can join us in 2 weeks when we play a double-header vs. our pals the Whybunts on July 11.

Fish fall to Whybunts

Hi Fish and Friends,

Tough losses to our pals the Whybunts last night but we had our fishy fun times as always. We were again a lean mean fighting-fish machine, with a few Fishes on the DL or traveling to faraway lands. Highlights included Richie Rich’s big homerun (and his 2 big catches in left field), Butters’s obligatory 3-run homerun, Naslamwell’s homerun, and Matt the Blaster Abbate’s smash line drive that actually made it past their machine of a shortstop. The Rookie Alexa the X Factor continues to delight and amaze (thanks to X Factor for brainstorming with me for a suitable nickname). And let it just be noted it is physically impossible to squeeze 10 innings into an hour and a half. I only have the score for game 1 to share here, because I broke the photocopier trying to scan the other one. Please respect the photocopier’s privacy at this difficult time.

Hope you can join us next Wednesday when we face the Strawdogs on field 5A.

Yours in softball and all things Fish,

Judy

Catfish 10, GAME 16

Dear Fish and Friends,

It was a blistering battle of wills last night against GAME, which, as we learned, stands for Graduate Association of Mechanical Engineers (and friends). Our proudest moments included holding them to ZERO runs in the bottom of the fifth. The biggest whoop-di-doo was Jon “Buttery Battery” Elwell’s TWO (2) THREE (3)-run homeruns. Thanks for all you do, Butters! Also some fantastic catches of popups by Matt “the Battler” Abbate and Kate “Pitchwell” Elwell. We are also excited to welcome to the team eX-eM-eLL-ing Alexa Masi (SORRY I will try to come up with a better nickname I swear), who proved her bat a formidable weapon.

Please join us next week, Wednesday, June 13, when we face our pals the Whybunts in a doubleheader on the astroturf.

Yours in softball,

Judy
