BE Natural Killers 27, Catfish 13

Dear Catfish and Friends,

It was a chilly and blustery beginning to the 2016 season last night. We did our best to beat down the BENKs’s bluster and we were proud to make it to double digits, but we couldn’t quite overcome their Biological Engineering tricks.

MVP is as always split among all Fish, but special kudos to Evan “The Beast” Mauser (for his 2 [TWO] home runs!), Nathaniel “Na-Slam-Well” Trippe for his chops at shortstop, and who can forget our pitchers Matt “The Baffler” Abbate and John “Tslammy” Tsai, for the marathon sessions they slogged through with one particularly slumping BENK who had trouble making contact. A moment of silence, please, for that painful time. We shall speak no more of this.

Our bats were on veritable fishy fire, with Richard “The Raucous” Wladkowski starting us off solidly in the first inning. Nate “JAG!!” Band had seriously solid hustle and hits, as did Johnny “Jumbo ’Moji” Costello, Erin “Hustling H Bomb” Hasley, Yar “Mr. Tats!” Laakso, and the Abbate Bros., John “The Battler” and Art “The Artful.” The Artful One also made a stellar catch in deep right field, for which we thank him and tip our caps.

We also had an astute cheering section in Edith “Lil Mouse” Mauser (we scored those lucky 13 runs for you, Lil Mouse!), Minky “Mama” Mauser, and Beth “The Mórrígan” Moore, who guided us well from the sidelines.
All in all, we Fish are proud of this opening day adventure, and we look forward to next week’s contest against the Akamites. .

Until then, swim tall and proud, Fish and Friends!
